Sports & Politics
I take extreme pride in my work and the quality of photographs I provide my clients because I know that I'm only as good as my last photograph. Additionally, I take great care in listening to my client's instructions and directions to achieve top-level results in meeting their needs.
My experience spans two continents, but is primarily based in the Omaha metro area working sports and political events. I have experience working with both print and television media, as well as non-profit groups and businesses covering NCAA Big Ten football at the University of Nebraska, high school, amateur and professional sporting competitions, Omaha Fashion Week, galas and fund raisers, and both national and local political events.
I have an established work flow allowing me to provide quality photographs to my clients and an ability to meet tight deadlines if required for production cutoffs.
My work has been published in print, TV, and online media including a feature on KPTM Fox42 primetime news coverage following protests in late March 2017 that erupted in downtown Omaha as protestors clashed with police in reaction to a pro-Trump rally. I am a National Press Photographer Association and an International Association of Press Photographers member.
I have enjoyed my time behind the camera since an early age when my father's passion for photography rubbed off on me. I was the yearbook photographer in high school then later worked as a district manager for the Kearney Hub newspaper in Kearney, Nebraska while attending college at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. In 2008 I started my own business, Skip DeBusk Photography, after completing nine years of active duty service in the U.S. Air Force.
Shortly after launching my professional photography career, I ended up deploying to Iraq as an Air Force Reservist where I captured nearly 5,000 photographs documenting my deployment, Iraq's landscape, and the Iraqi culture. Several of my photographs were published in military publications distributed to troops stationed at the Victory Base Complex and Balad Air Base. While visiting southern Iraq, I was asked by the U.S. Coast Guard to fly in a Blackhawk helicopter over Iraq's only deep water port, Umm Qasr Port, and photograph the entire facility. That was an awesome experience!
I take great care in listening to my client's instructions and directions to achieve top-level results.”
